About CrookedPage

CrookedPage is my own little literary project. The basis of the project is growth, self-expansion, self-education, and FUN! If you are a bibliophile, an avid reader, or even just pick up the occasional book then you might like this blog. In it I will be documenting my project which will go a little something like this:

I have a hat. It’s a beautiful black fedora, with a red silk band. In it I have put lots and lots of little scraps of paper with the name of a book, a series, or an author written on them. I will draw these slips out of my hat and read whatever it is that is written on that piece of paper, no matter what it is. How do I decide which books to add to the hat? Well I will be adding 3 types of books, books that I’d like to read, books that I think I should read, and books that people recommend for me. Now here’s the kicker, the part that is going to be hard for me anyway, if someone recommends a book for me, no matter how distasteful or repellent I find it, no matter how much I might not want to read it, it goes in the hat. And I will read whatever I draw out, no matter what it is.

So I invite you all to join me on my journey, and please recommend things!

  1. Words We Women Write

This is one Bing-Bang Awesome idea. From my piles of books TBR, I suggest you add Elegance of the Hedgehog and The Professor and the Housekeeper.
Our book group discussed them at the same time (fluke of the weather) and
had The Best conversation (another maximum brilliant accident). Two little gems. And your website makes three. GL, I’ll be back to see what’s next. 🙂
Toni ps Your site/theme is ogle-worthy!

    • Awww, thanks for the vote of confidence ladies! And for the recommendations. I’ve seen both of those titles floating around the store but always forget about them, now there’s no fear because they are both folded up and in The Hat. 🙂

  2. Longshanks

This is a neat idea, and I just love your site theme! I’ll be in touch with a few more slips for the hat.

  3. How about ‘The Dice Man’, but Luke Rhinehart? One of my favourites.

  4. Lovely theme there, CrookedPage with all those beautiful books too ! I would love to add the Agatha Christie series especially Hercule Poirot to the hat.

  5. Thanks! I will definitely add those to The Hat. I’ve read a few of her books and really enjoyed them but I haven’t read those yet.

  6. Something to toss in the hat if you haven’t already: Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

  7. My top five favorite are probably..

    – Flowers for algernon by daniel keyes
    – Siddhartha by herman hessse
    – How to Get Rich: One of the World’s Greatest Entrepreneurs Shares His Secrets by Felix dennis
    – Harry potter
    – Either the alchemist by paulo coelho or johnathan livingston seagull by richard bach
